Boys’ Home in Hebron
This Chance for Children residential building for boys has been offering a home to former street children since 2002. Here they can count on a clean, secure environment, receive regular meals and learn to live in a community as self-reliant persons. At the moment there are 30 boys living in this house in Hebron, which is situated about an hour outside of Accra. They attend school in a nearby town, are being assisted with their homework and advanced through additional courses. There are always house mothers and social workers present to care for the boys properly.
Girls’ Home in Hebron
The first of three residence buildings for girls inside the Chance for Children compound in Hebron was opened in the summer of 2011. By now 40 young girls have found a new home here. Just like the boys, they attend school close by, carry out small chores around the house, learn how to behave respectfully in a community and grow into self-dependent individuals. The girls are living separated from the boys. There are often shared activities or workshops especially on the weekends. In each one of the residential buildings there is a house mother living with the 12 girls, so they can grow up just like within a large family.
