Financial Means
During the initial phase in 1998, all activities were financed through the Swiss teacher’s salary of Daniela Rüdisüli Sodjah as well as the drum sales of Amon Kotey.
As the project grew more and more these ways of income were not sufficient to support the operations, so that in the winter of 1999/2000 a first fundraising drive was started in Switzerland.
Sources of Income
Donations
By now over 200 private persons, church congregations, schools, associations, towns and companies support and fund Chance for Children, most of them from Switzerland and Liechtenstein, but many also from Ghana, Austria, Germany and the US.
In order to guarantee long-term financial planning, the groups «CFC Friends» organize several voluntary activities in Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Ghana that benefit the organization.
Handcraft sales
By producing necklaces, cards and batik-linens, which are sold for the benefit of Chance for Children, the project staff and the young adults can contribute to co-financing the project themselves.

Eight reasons for supporting Chance for Children
- A real need: there are over 30,000 street children in the city of Accra alone – and this number increases by the year.
- Long-term effect through focus and education.
- Donations directly benefit those in need (administration costs are extremely low due to the small size of the project and the support of the families of the founders).
- Complete transparency: regular visits from Switzerland
- Competence: as Amon Kotey has grown up in a poor family himself and needed to be responsible at an early age, he has experienced the hardships of street children himself.
- Amon Kotey and the Ghanaian staff understand the mentality and the environment of their fellow countrymen.
- All staff members live in simple conditions and hence know the troubles of living in Accra first-handily. That is why the children can trust the staff very much and why the have less inhibitions.
- The managing board as well as the advisory board in Ghana include individuals from different backgrounds and thus guarantee wholesome and adequate consultation and support.
