Vision, Values and Goals
Vision
Street children in Accra should have the opportunity to take control of their lives through experiencing love and safety, and receiving an education and professional training. |
Values
It is important to the managers of the project that the following values are respected both by the staff as well as by the children and adolescents
- Respect for each individual: every single child is cherished as an individual.
- Social responsibility: the children should learn at an early stage to act responsibly in a social and societal context.
- Learning to help themselves: after their training the adolescents should be able to stand on their own two feet and lead self-sufficient lives.
- Honesty and openness: both within the project and in the outside world.
Goals
- To understand the needs and expectations of the children and their
relatives so that, through counselling, running away to the streets can be avoided.
- To welcome children who are living on the street to our day-centre and help
them to find a new perspective on their lives.
- To enable children to experience love and safety, and encourage them to return
to their families.
- To provide a home for those children who cannot return to their families.
- To educate children academically and professionally, and provide assistance
in finding jobs.
- To inform the children about health issues and provide medical aid.
- To collaborate with all organisations and groups which are interested in
reintegrating street children into society.
