Adolescents in professional training
It is the vision of CFC to provide an opportunity to the street children in
Accra so they can take life into their own hands by giving them love and affection
as well as academic and professional education.
For the young adults this means that they are introduced to a self-responsible
life little by little. As soon as behaviour and lifestyle of those adolescents,
who are within a few years of completing their education or training, are promising
as to them leading a responsible life, Chance for Children is renting simple housing
for them. There the young adults can practice independence together with one or two
housemates. Every week they are being visited by social workers to evaluate their
current situation regarding school, training, work or other issues at hand.
Two adolescents also share a flat at the moment. One of them is completing apprenticeships as sanitarians, the other is training to be a car mechanic at the “National Engineering College“.
Three of the boys are living at their respective schools at the moment. One is attending «Ada Secondary School», one «Polytechnic Accra» and one is enrolled at “Motesco”.
One youngster finished the Senior High School in Mai 09 and is currently working in the Drop-In Center. Four boys just completed the nine years of elementary school. They are now doing internships in various companies, before they start their professional training.
Meanwhile there are a total of 26 young adults leading a self-responsible life. |
