Drop-In Centre

An oasis away from the struggle for survival

In July 2015 we opened our day center in Abossey Okai, close to Agbogbloshie, a slum in the heart of Accra where many children live and work. In our Drop-In Centre, we aim to release children from the pressure of the street. Here, up to 45 boys and girls receive a hot meal, medical and psychological care and can take part in classes and workshops. They can also use this space to bath, wash their clothes, rest or just play carefree.

Social workers and educators are present in the Drop-In Centre to provide the best possible care for the children. In this way we can support them in situ and develop short and long-term perspectives with them. Only after we have got to know a child sufficiently in the Drop-In Centre we visit his/her family when this is appropriate and we seek for the best solution for the child together, and in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare: reintegrating the child into their family, taking them to one of our homes or refer them to another NGO.
