Youth

Path to Independence

Young adults receive support in high school and university or are supported in vocational training through our TVET Agency.  The overarching goal is that young adults are prepared for independent living and to contribute meaningfully to their communities.
The transition to independence is nurtured in families or in our supervised youth flats. We foster essential life skills such as time and money management, interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence.
Social workers offer periodic guidance, and the young adults take on higher responsibilities, including initiating bank savings, enrolling in health insurance, and pursuing education or careers. Some have successfully completed senior high school or vocational training, are now earning an income, and living independently.

Our results in 2023*

  • 6 young adults hosted & guided in the Accra Youth Flat

  • 17 young adults completed vocational training or high school

  • 39 young adults were supported in their apprenticeship through our TVET Agency or in university

CFC’s work has been impacted by the measures the Ghanaian government introduced to contain COVID-19. Our street workers had to cease their activities and the drop-in center was closed between March and September 2020.

CFC instantly responded with a customized approach to this complex situation in-line with official advice and without jeopardizing children’s safety.

The 2021 results reflect these unprecedented times in scale, impact and the restriction of our activities.
